Apparently Alyson Books has chosen to go e-book only... well we won't.
Andrew and I are currently seeking a new publisher, and apologize for any delay this may have. Rest-assured... the book will be published.
This blog is basically an archive of the trial news, facts, and opinions related to convicted murderers Harlow Cuadra and Joseph Kerekes for their brutal slaying of Bryan Kocis in his rural Pennsylvania home. Harlow and Joe are currently serving life in prison without the possibility of parole. I will continue to update this blog for the duration of Harlow Cuadra's plea for a new trial.
I have a sneaking suspision that this is the future of any less than best selling book in the publishing field, unless it comes out as a paper back, and they are an endangered species also. It is cheaper to do an electronic book for the publisher, although distribution is currently limited. Best of luck finding another publisher.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to you PC. At least now you're free to shop the book around to other publishers rather than having them keep it in limbo indefinitely and lie to you about it, as other authors have experienced. I was startled to read in the Publisher's Weekly article that Alyson hasn't published a new print book since the fall of 2009, so the writing's definitely been on the wall for a while now.
ReplyDeleteI don't see any reason a publisher that specializes in true-crime nonfiction shouldn't snap the book up, even if you might have to slightly tweak or tone down some of it for a more general audience.
not really sure if that's a bad thing...I'm sure that a LOT more people are open to buying gay books or gay crime books through an app for iPad or something like that than are willing to go to a bookstore to buy 1...but it sucks for you that they waited this long - til Christmas shopping season is almost here - to do this and make you miss out on those sales :( good luck, though! don't give up! when harlow's apeal is heard, it'll bring this back in the news and get people interested again - especially if the conviction is thrown out (weird to be hoping for that, isn't it? ;) lol)
