Cuadra Loses Again...

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has denied convicted murder Harlow Cuadra's appeal:

"AND NOW, this 3rd day of May, 2011, the Petition for Allowance of Appeal is DENIED."

Cuadra sought an appeal with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court, stating then-Judge Peter Paul Olszewski Jr., made mistakes in rulings before and during the two-week trial in March 2009.

I'll try to have more shortly. Meanwhile, more about Harlow's failed appeal(s) can be found HERE.

Update @ 05/04/2011: Nothing more to add... the Pennsylvania Supreme Court does not issue a written opinion when they refuse to hear a case.

  1. I assume someone was being paid to file these appeals. Sort of wonder where the money came from, not that it really matters.
Harlow certainly does not have the resources.

We know Fannick was handling the case... was he paid - I'm sure. How much, and by whom... hmm... that would be interesting to know. :)

  3. Well one thing is certain its clients like Harlow (and his benefactor) who keep lawyers like Fannick happy, wealthy and wi..well fed. ;-)

  4. This will make a nice conclusion to your book PC, presuming there's time to get it in.

I suppose now he'll file a writ of habeus corpus in federal court. Then when that's denied, it will FINALLY be over.

  6. Sorry for the ignorance but how many appeals can there be?
This seems to be a 'never-ending story'...

Yes, it does seem to be "never-ending"... but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Harlow's only chance now is with the U.S. Supreme Court - and he'll lose.

  9. "It is said among authors that in the book production process, you end up with a great title or a great book cover, but never both”...

PC, sorry for saying this but I find both title and cover...unappealing?? (IMHO)

Good to know... I'll make a note of it. :)

  11. I think Harlow should do a lot of reading and maybe take up needlepoint. Does he work in the prison laundry or anything?

  12. Yay, the Blogger outage is finally over!

Hi Asim. About the "unappealing cover," PC did say the cover art we've seen is just a placeholder and they're still working on the final book cover.

(Also, in my previous comment I misspelled
    habeas corpus.)

  13. PC, as I posted on Cobra Killer facebook, your blog is amazing.
Just out of curiosity, is the title in "honour" of Grant Roy?;)
I have a feeling he won't like your book...

A pleasure to “meet” you again, Will
So what do you think of the title?

(BTW, I keep enjoying your tweets ;) except for that one in which you called me… silly?)

  14. It's as good a title as any. PC isn't the first to use it, OUT Magazine's article was called "The Case of the Cobra Killer."

(BTW I wasn't calling you silly, it's just an expression when someone misunderstands something you say. No offense meant.)

That is the point. "As good a title as any"...and not very original either. “Cobra Killer” sounds like a Chuck Norris movie (sorry again, PC).
The KOCIS murder case is a sordid but fascinating story…your book deserves a captivating title and attractive cover.
I hope it will be successful beyond LGBT literature and become a movie one day (Brent and Grant could play themselves ;)

(Thanks for the clarification, Will. Seriously need to improve my English …)

No there is no "honour" to Grant Roy in regards to the title, and to be honest... I could really care less if he likes the book. :)

  18. I'm sure his image is in some way legally "protected" but it would be interesting and seem appropriate that Sean Lockhart be on the cover of your book as well. Supposedly, he was a factor in this entire scenario.

Well it's nice that you feel that way, but since you're not paying for the book cover... it's not going to happen. Sean wasn't much of a factor at all... nor was Grant - surprise!

"Their motive? An ill-conceived attempt to lure a rising gay porn star named Brent Corrigan away from the grips of Kocis and into their crumbling, self-built porn empire."

PC, I had always thought BC was that much of a factor... :-O

Perhaps I should have better phrased my statement. Neither Sean or Grant were much of a factor in the juror's eyes. It was Harlow himself that sunk the ship.
